Well, here we are in Piccola Italia! Shops with names like Milano, Caffè Italia, Casa Napoli, Quincaillerie Dante… People on their way to the Italian flavours of famed Jean-Talon Market walk past green-red-white bunting echoing the Italian flag. Yards overflow with fruit trees and vegetables plants.
For almost a hundred years, this neighbourhood has been a meeting place for one of Montreal's most integrated and vibrant cultural communities. Among the signs is the Florentine architecture of the Madonna Della Difesa Church, at the heart of the neighbourhood. The church is a national historic site.
Although still strongly Italian, the face of Little Italy is changing. It is now more multicultural.
